Virginia, 2013

The Virginia State Board of Elections (SBE) summarized its 2013 Crosscheck data in its 2013 Annual Report on Voter Registration List Maintenance Activities.

Virginia received 308,579 "Potential Duplicate Registrants" from Crosscheck; after eliminating those lacking an exact match on first and last names, full date of birth, and SSN4, they were left with 80,515 pairs.

QUALITY OF DATA MATCH FOR 308,579 "PAIRS" FROM 2013 Virginia CROSSCHECK

74% of "pairs" are really two unique American voters matched using inadequate data.

While being on Crosscheck's report remains an unreasonable and pointless risk for these 456,696 who were placed on Virginia's list to Crosscheck's bad data matching, a close reading of the Virginia list maintenance reports may calm fears of those who believe all American voters who are placed on a Crosscheck report are summarily deleted from the voter rolls. Virginia's annual reports outline exacting standards by which voter registrations are processed.  One wishes Crosscheck would reflect such exacting standards when entrusted with the voter rights of 84 million Americans annually.
